100 Elk’s mission is “Revealing the Possibilities Within.” Our uplifting, supportive environment allows participants to learn new things about themselves and others while enjoying the outdoors.
Outdoor Education
The 100 Elk Outdoor Center provides outdoor education and character development programs in the fall and spring for schools and groups interested in experiential education.
100 Elk serves groups from all backgrounds including grade school through college students, sports teams, programs serving at-risk and underserved students, after-school programs and those interested in adventure and experiential learning. Our goal is to help expand each participant’s sense of self, community and the environment while encouraging personal growth and authentic choices.
Since 2000, we have provided quality programming to schools and groups throughout Colorado and New Mexico. Participants utilize the 1,100-acre A/U Ranches facility, situated in the iconic Rocky Mountains in Buena Vista, Colorado.
Our Mission

We believe our programming helps participants, individually and collectively, learn new things about themselves and others. Our activities support team building, growth and reflection for participants, as well as promote a greater appreciation of the outdoors.
Events & Rentals
If you’re interested in returning to 100 Elk after an outdoor ed trip, we also offer rentals through 100 Elk Events. Rentals are available for company retreats, groups and workshops, weddings, reunions and other private parties. Our facilities are ideal for groups looking for an inspiring environment for their next event or families looking to enjoy a short vacation rental. We provide affordable, customizable packages that can include venue space, lodgings, activities and dining options.
The 100 Elk Outdoor Center is a public program of the A/U Ranches, a non-profit located in Buena Vista, Colorado — a branch of the Adventure Unlimited organization. The 100 Elk Outdoor Center is a drug-, alcohol- and smoke-free environment.
