Q1: When are 100 Elk rentals available?
100 Elk rentals are available largely in the fall, winter and spring from late August through mid-May. In the summer, we offer youth and adult family camp sessions that require the full use of our property. The last two weeks of December are also closed to rentals due to our annual Christmas camp. To learn more about our programs, visit the A/U Ranches website.
Q2: What size groups can you accommodate?
We can accommodate groups as small as one for overnight stays and up to 350 depending upon the time of the year. For groups wanting to stay off property and use the facilities during the day, we can help arrange group rates with several hotels in town as well as provide recommendations on nearby bed and breakfasts.
Q3: Do you work with outside vendors for special events?
Yes! We often work with vendors on special events and recommend checking out the vendor list from the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce by clicking here. We do have a number of padded folding chairs and tables available for indoor use in Wyly Lodge as well as padded chairs and wooden tables in the Valerie Lodge dining area for events. However, most outdoor special events require chair rentals. In terms of catering, events are typically catered by our in-house executive chef but local catering services are welcome – please check with us for recommendations.
Q4: Is there cell phone coverage on property?
Cell phone service has progressed over the years but is still limited due to the geography of where 100 Elk is located – at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. It is strongest with AT&T, but other carriers such as Verizon do work some. If you do get service, we ask that you be mindful of those around you in dining and lodge areas and consider stepping outside to take calls if weather permits.
Q5: Is there wireless Internet available?
The best place to access the Internet is the Hub, our office located near Sky Valley Ranch. There is limited wireless Internet available in certain buildings on property such as Aspen Grove, Valerie Lodge and Wyly Lodge. At this time, our bunkhouse cabins and cabin apartments are not set up for Internet access. While the Internet coverage is strong, we are located in a rural environment where outages can occur.
Q6: What is there to do on property?
Oh, lots! Depending upon the size of your group, you can supplement your stay at 100 Elk with activities such as our high ropes courses, low ropes courses, horseback riding, canoeing, archery, hiking and outdoor lawn games. We also have an outdoor rock wall and indoor rock gym for climbing. Click here to visit the Activities page to learn more about each option.
Q7: Do you offer corporate teambuilding or leadership development services?
Several of our activities such as the high ropes course, low ropes course, rock gym, Leap of Faith and Giant’s Ladder involve a significant level of teambuilding and communication. If you have specific needs for corporate training, we have a number of professional contacts we recommend who specialize in corporate teambuilding and leadership development. We are happy to connect you with them based upon your group’s needs.
Q8: What is 100 Elk’s alcohol and drug policy?
The 100 Elk Outdoor Center is a place designed to encourage personal growth and clearness of thought. In support of this, we are a drug-, alcohol- and smoke-free facility. There are a number of restaurants and bars in Buena Vista that we can recommend for groups looking to dine off property – including Asian Palate, Eddyline Restaurant and Brewery, House Rock Kitchen, The Jailhouse and Simple Eatery.
Q9: What kind of wildlife can we expect to see?
We are called 100 Elk for a reason! From late fall through spring, you may get a rare glimpse of a large herd of elk that pass through our property each year. The most popular wildlife sightings are mule deer, rabbits, bobcats and birds, along with the occasional coyote. You’ll also spot horses in our pastures on property. Speaking of wildlife though, we recommend keeping any food in a plastic container or at one of the lodges in our designated area to avoid attracting critters such as mice.
Q10: What are the rates for group rentals and overnight stays?
If you are interested in receiving a price list or quote, please use the contact form, call or email us directly at [email protected]. Our packages tend to be affordable and very customizable, especially given the variety of events and activities we offer.
